16th April 2014
For a Dynamic, Innovative and Open Slovenia

Entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on innovative enterprises, is one of the most important pillars of the future growth and development of Slovenia’s economy. Therefore, the first day of the event will focus on the establishment of a comprehensive support environment. The later includes not only financial support instruments but especially providing support services which require not only institutional but also territorial coverage. The service and financial instrument package should be defined for the entire cycle of the development of enterprises, namely from the stage of identifying ideas, seed stage to the development stage. Last but not least, establishing new enterprises requires a differentiated approach for the various types of enterprises which the formation of the support environment should also take into account.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia will present the evaluation of the situation, the upgraded approach and proposed solutions as the basis and a challenge for an open and constructive debate. On this basis, decisions on the Smart Specialisation Strategy content will be adopted.

17th April 2014
For a Dynamic, Innovative and Open Slovenia

The second day of the event will focus on innovation, research and development as well as industry policies in the framework of which the key Smart Specialisation Strategy objective is to identify the priority application fields. Namely, the fields thus far addressed a wide set of priorities with the development policy instruments, which would support such priorities, not being structured enough.

The aim of the event is to move forward in agreeing on Government actions which will contribute to the innovation breakthrough – not only of Slovenia’s economy but also of the scientific and research field and the society in general. On the basis of a clearly defined strategy the actions will address the changes to be introduced to the institutional-regulatory framework as a financial incentive and support service.

Therefore, we aim to identify the niches where Slovenia will profile and provide the support environment system which will not eliminate taking advantage of the existing potentials (also when it comes to more specific areas). The debate on the priorities is indeed related to the set of actions which need to be tailored to various target groups.
